How 30 Minutes A Day Can Change Your Life

Often, while in a near constant state of responding to whatever life is throwing at us, we lose track of our path, our dreams, or our visions. Sometimes we simply forget, or we are overwhelmed, or worn out. The groceries, the laundry, the car, the job, the children, the water leak, the essays, the deadlines, the demands all can get the best of us.

In spite of all that’s swirling about us, we owe it to ourselves to carve out even half an hour each day to work toward a dream, pursue a hobby or take steps toward something else that’s truly meaningful to us. In doing so, we can take a break from our daily grind while simultaneously taking small steps forward towards a new path, a dream, or the pleasure of a new skill or pastime. Over time this daily practice can lead to you feeling better, meaningfully stimulated, more accomplished, more in control and more deliberate with your time.

Where can you carve out a half hour? Can you commit to it day in and day out? Can you make a decision to prioritize your spirit for 30 minutes every day?

You could spend 30 minutes working on a new business, applying for jobs, practicing an instrument, reading for pleasure, working on your stand up act, researching subjects that matter to you, knitting, dancing… The list is endless and very personal. It just needs to be something that matters to you and takes you out of the daily grind.

The act of dedicating the time to yourself is your gift to you. It’s an investment in your own well-being, and therefore an investment in your future both emotionally and practically. Thirty minutes every day amounts to three and a half hours weekly and fourteen hours a month! There's so much that can be accomplished in that time! At the end of a few months, you may have found a new job, might have become closer to starting your new business, might be making knitted gifts, may be an expert on vegetable gardens. It’s an investment in wonderful you, and it will pay dividends.

I’m cheering you on! Here’s an affirmation from my book to support you in your new practice…
